We lost 3 more roosters to foxes on Saturday. Apparently Gloria, the Alpaca, isn't settled in enough yet to treat the place as her home and therefore she didn't stop the foxes. Her previous owners will replace her if we think that way but we're prepared to wait until she has settled in better. We let the sheep up into the same paddock as the roosters and Gloria and she seemed happier.
The breeders are laying about 5 eggs a day, a quarter of the ration. We are posting 3 dozen tomorrow and can take orders for more if people want them.
The baby chickens have been down in the coup in the sun for the last few afternoons but we take them back up to the shed at night to be under a heat lamp. They are not fully feathered yet and its been getting down near zero overnight.
